Role: Business Process Engineer

Location: Hybrid in Minneapolis, MN

Duration: 12 months (through 9/30/2027)

Rate: $53.19-$70.92/hour W2

Position Summary

We are seeking a Business Process Engineer to help drive process transformation across a large, mission-driven enterprise undergoing significant digital evolution. This role goes beyond documenting workflows. You will partner with business, product, technology, and architecture teams to redesign complex operational processes, simplify workflows, identify automation opportunities, and help define how work should be performed in the future.

The organization is investing heavily in modernizing critical business capabilities and reducing manual effort across complex operational functions. Success in this role requires someone who can challenge existing processes, think strategically about future-state operations, and work through ambiguity to create practical, executable solutions.

This is an excellent opportunity for a process professional who enjoys solving difficult business problems, influencing change, and helping organizations move from manual, fragmented processes to streamlined, scalable operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and evaluate current business processes to identify inefficiencies, redundant activities, manual workarounds, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Design detailed future-state workflows that simplify operations, reduce handoffs, improve customer and stakeholder experiences, and support business objectives.
  • Facilitate workshops, working sessions, and process discovery meetings with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Translate business goals, stakeholder input, and high-level process visions into actionable process designs and requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for workflow automation, system integration, and emerging technologies, including AI-enabled solutions where appropriate.
  • Partner closely with product managers, enterprise architects, business leaders, and technical teams to ensure process designs align with technology capabilities and implementation strategies.
  • Document process flows, decision points, dependencies, risks, controls, and business requirements using tools such as Visio and Miro.
  • Support large-scale transformation initiatives by helping teams move from conceptual future-state models to detailed, executable designs.
  • Communicate recommendations, tradeoffs, and process improvements effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Build alignment among stakeholders while maintaining focus on business outcomes and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in business process engineering, business process improvement, process transformation, business analysis, operational excellence, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience designing future-state business processes, not just documenting current-state workflows.
  • Strong experience facilitating stakeholder workshops and gathering requirements across multiple business functions.
  • Proven ability to identify process improvement opportunities, eliminate unnecessary complexity, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Experience working in environments with ambiguity, evolving requirements, and changing priorities.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience using process modeling and collaboration tools such as Visio, Miro, Lucidchart, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating across business and technology teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting enterprise digital transformation or product transformation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, or operational excellence methodologies.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience evaluating business processes for automation opportunities.
  • Exposure to AI-enabled process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience working with revenue cycle management, order management, customer operations, or complex operational workflows.
  • Experience working with Salesforce platforms, Oracle ERP, Oracle Cloud Fusion, Sales Cloud, or related enterprise systems.
  • Experience operating in healthcare, regulated industries, or other complex enterprise environments.

Technical Environment

You may work with:

  • Visio
  • Miro
  • Salesforce platforms
  • Sales Cloud
  • Oracle ERP
  • Oracle Cloud Fusion
  • Process automation initiatives
  • Enterprise system integrations
  • Agile product teams
  • Continuous improvement methodologies
  • Cross-functional business and technology stakeholders

What Success Looks Like

The ideal candidate is a builder, not just a documenter.

You ask why a process exists before recommending how to automate it. You are comfortable challenging assumptions, digging into process details, and proposing simpler ways of working. Rather than accepting complex workflows at face value, you focus on reducing friction, eliminating unnecessary steps, and creating processes that scale.

You thrive in environments that combine enterprise-level complexity with startup-like ambiguity. You are self-directed, intellectually curious, and comfortable operating without a predefined playbook. You can balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution and work effectively with both business and technical teams.

Successful individuals in this role are known for their learning agility, problem-solving skills, ability to navigate uncertainty, and willingness to roll up their sleeves when needed.

Why Join This Opportunity

  • Help shape the future of a large-scale digital and operational transformation effort.
  • Influence how critical business processes are designed and executed across the enterprise.
  • Work alongside product, architecture, business, and technology leaders on highly visible initiatives.
  • Drive meaningful process simplification, automation, and modernization efforts.
  • Gain exposure to enterprise platforms, emerging technologies, and evolving product operating models.
  • Join an organization that combines the scale and complexity of a large enterprise with the opportunity to build, innovate, and create lasting impact.
  • Play a key role in a transformation journey where your ideas and recommendations can directly influence future operations.
