Job Description

Role: Cyber Security Administrator

Location: Onsite in Plymouth, MN

Duration: 3 months, with possibility of converting

Rate: $41.37/hour W2

About the Role

Our client is rebuilding their cybersecurity function after recent departures and are looking to bring on a Cyber Security Administrator on a contract basis, with strong potential to convert to a permanent hire. This is a hands-on, day-to-day administration role supporting identity and access management for a workforce distributed across the US and internationally, even though the role itself is based onsite at the Plymouth, MN headquarters. There is currently no dedicated IAM platform in place, so this role requires comfort with manual administration of both on-premises Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD). The team is actively working to build out role-based access control as a foundation for an eventual IAM tool implementation, and this person will play a direct part in that effort.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain user accounts, groups, and access in both on-premises Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), including provisioning, deprovisioning, and access reviews — performed manually in the absence of a dedicated IAM tool.
  • Support security administration across two separate business entities, maintaining a clear understanding of which policies, configurations, and procedures apply to which company.
  • Assist in building out role-based access control (RBAC) structures as the team prepares for a future IAM platform.
  • Respond to and process day-to-day access requests, tickets, and security alerts; escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Help document processes and procedures to support continuity as the team rebuilds.
  • Provide general support to the broader cybersecurity function as needed while the team is at reduced capacity.

Requirements

  • Experience administering Active Directory and Azure AD/Entra ID in a hybrid (on-premises plus cloud) identity environment.
  • Comfortable performing manual identity and access management (no IAM tool currently deployed).
  • Ability to work across multiple business entities with distinct policies and contexts — similar to working in a managed services provider (MSP) model supporting different clients.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Entry-level to junior cybersecurity experience.
  • Able and willing to work onsite at the Plymouth, MN headquarters; this role is not hybrid or remote.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in an MSP or multi-entity IT/security environment.
  • Familiarity with role-based access control (RBAC) design.
  • Exposure to IAM tools/platforms, even without hands-on deployment experience — this is a plus and may support growth into a more engineering-focused role over time.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+) a plus.
