Job Description
Role: BI Developer Contract: 6-month Potential contract to hire Location: Minneapolis, MN - Hybrid Rate: $55-$75/hour W2, dependent on skills and qualifications
Position Summary We are seeking a BI Developer to support analytics and reporting initiatives for a growing team. This role will partner closely with data engineers and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, governed Power BI solutions. The ideal candidate has deep experience with Power BI development, semantic modeling, and platform administration, including Microsoft Fabric capacity management.
Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards that meet business and technical requirements
- Build and manage semantic models, emphasizing governed, reusable models that support multiple reports rather than one-off solutions
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure models are well-structured, performant, and aligned with data pipelines
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective BI products
- Manage the administrative aspects of Power BI, including workspace governance, deployment pipelines, security, and user access
- Support and optimize Microsoft Fabric capacity, monitoring usage, performance, and cost efficiency
- Ensure best practices around data modeling, performance optimization, and BI governance are followed
Required Qualifications - Strong hands-on experience with Power BI (report development, data modeling, DAX)
- Experience building and maintaining semantic models in a governed BI environment
- Solid understanding of Power BI administration and platform management
- Experience working with data engineers and business partners in a cross-functional environment
- Strong SQL skills and understanding of data warehousing concepts
Preferred Qualifications - Experience with Microsoft Fabric or Azure-based data platforms
- Background supporting enterprise-scale or regulated environments
- Healthcare, insurance, or large enterprise experience a plus
