Role: CAD/CAM Programmer Location: Maplewood, MN Salary: $65,000-$70,000, dependent on experience
Job Summary The CAD/CAM Programmer II is a mid-level position working within our Virtual Design team and performing daily tasks under supervision of our senior-level CAM Programmer. The primary function of this position is to create CNC programs for out 5-Axis, 3-Axis and Laser cutting machines and provide material optimizations for our manufacturing operation. The CAD/CAM Programmer II will also be responsible for validating part drawings and fabrication packages. This individual will be competent with 2D and 3D-modeling software and proficient in reading and interpreting Shop Drawings. The CAD/CAM Programmer II will collaborate with the VDC team, Superintendents and the Production team. This position will ensure quality control with precision measurement tools and troubleshoot design and production issues. An ideal candidate’s technical skills and attention to detail will be key in maintaining product quality. In addition, this person is expected to understand how our CNC machines operate, be able to identify CNC tooling and fixtures, and be aware of CNC maintenance requirements. The ideal candidate will strive for excellence to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate production processes are fulfilled to the company standard. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Develop, write, and optimize programs for enterprise CNC machines
- Interpret technical drawings and CAD models to create precise machining instructions
- Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for various materials
- Conduct trial runs and make necessary adjustments to ensure accuracy and quality
- Consult with machine operators to resolve manufacturing issues
- Maintain and update program files, configurations and documentation
- Manage the creation and administration of work tickets for production teams
- Monitor machine performance and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency
- Develop part drawings as necessary
Qualifications - 2-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or Drafting and 3 years work experience, or 5 years work experience in a CAM Programmer role
- Mastery of 2D CAD software
- Advanced understanding of Shop Drawings and Engineering Specifications
- Experience with any of the following: AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, Inventor, Navisworks
- Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Requirements - Full-time employee in office setting
- Occasionally required to observe fabrication on the production floor
- 40 hours per week, maximum, expected unless otherwise notified
- Operating hours are 5:00am to 6pm, Central Time
