Job Description

Role: Senior Project Accountant

Location: Hybrid in Maplewood, Minnesota (3 days onsite)

Salary Range: $85,000 - $105,000 depending on experience


ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a hands-on accounting role with real variety. You'll own project-level billing and financial tracking for a Minnesota-based construction company, while also supporting the broader accounting function as the team prepares for a potential ERP implementation. If you're someone who's comfortable wearing multiple hats and likes being a key contributor where your work gets noticed, this is worth a look.


WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Project Accounting & Billing

  • Manage contract billing at the project level, including job cost tracking and revenue recognition
  • Oversee WIP (work-in-progress) accounting and reporting, construction background not required, but a solid understanding of WIP concepts is
  • Prepare and maintain audit-ready documentation for external auditors
  • Serve as AP backup as needed

ERP & Systems

  • Support an upcoming ERP evaluation and implementation process
  • Contribute to process documentation and data integrity work leading into implementation

General Accounting Support

  • Flex across accounting functions to cover gaps as team needs shift
  • Take on special projects and process improvement work during lower-volume periods

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Must-Haves

  • Experience with project-level contract billing
  • WIP accounting background (any industry)
  • Comfortable preparing audit documentation for external auditors
  • Accrual accounting knowledge; accounting degree or certification preferred
  • Flexible and adaptable, willing to take on tasks outside your primary scope when the team needs it
  • Education & Experience: Certificate or Degree in Accounting or Finance and 5+ years of experience


Nice-to-Haves

  • ERP implementation experience (any system)
  • Construction industry background
  • AP experience
