Job Description

Role: Business Analyst

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Hybrid in Bloomington, MN

Rate: Up to $65.34/hr W2, dependent on skills and qualifications


Role Overview:

The Business Analyst will support IT and business teams in delivering successful outcomes for projects involving infrastructure upgrades, application implementations, and construction-related technology initiatives. This role bridges the gap between business needs and technical solutions, ensuring requirements are clearly defined, documented, and validated throughout the project lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Requirements Gathering & Analysis
    • Collaborate with business stakeholders, IT SMEs, and vendors to elicit, document, and validate functional and non-functional requirements.
    • Translate business needs into clear technical specifications for infrastructure, application, and construction-related projects.
  • Project Support & Coordination
    • Assist Project Managers in tracking scope, schedule, and budget impacts related to requirements changes.
    • Support RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) management by identifying and documenting business-related risks and dependencies.
    • Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensure business readiness for go-live.
  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Create and maintain business process documentation, workflows, and data mapping.
    • Prepare status updates and contribute to monthly reporting on requirements progress and business deliverables.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Act as a liaison between business units, IT teams, and external vendors.
    • Facilitate workshops and meetings to clarify requirements and resolve issues.
  • Compliance & Standards
    • Ensure adherence to company IT policies, standards, and governance processes.
    • Support change management and business acceptance activities.

Mandatory Skills:

  • 3–5 years of Business Analysis experience in IT projects (applications and infrastructure).
  • Strong understanding of requirements gathering, documentation, and validation techniques.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with MS Project or similar tools.
  • Ability to do testing/QA activities in addition to coordinating UAT.

Desired Skills:

  • Exposure to construction-related IT deliverables (e.g., networking, cabling, hardware deployment).
  • Knowledge of system application components and integration points.
  • Experience working with Public Safety or similar regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with vendor coordination and purchased solution implementations.

Deliverables:

  • Business requirements documents (BRDs), functional specifications, and process flows.
  • UAT plans and test scripts.
  • RAID logs and business impact assessments.
  • Monthly reporting contributions for leadership.
