Job Description

Role: Digital Marketing Strategy Consultant

Location: Hybrid - Cottage Grove, MN, 3 days/week

Start: ASAP

Contract Length: 6 months - potential to extend

Rate: $87-$114/hour W2


Overview

We are seeking an experienced Digital Marketing Strategy Consultant to provide expert guidance and develop a comprehensive strategic roadmap for our digital marketing ecosystem. This role will focus on helping us determine the best approach to the entire digital marketing space, including what to tackle first, next, and how to sequence initiatives across Sitecore (including XM Cloud/Sitecore AI) and Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC). The consultant will ensure alignment between technology, content, personalization, and customer experience goals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Roadmap Development
    • Assess current digital marketing technology stack and capabilities (Sitecore, SFMC, integrations).
    • Provide guidance on prioritization—what initiatives to tackle first, next, and why.
    • Define a phased roadmap for migrating to XM Cloud (Sitecore AI), including component refactoring and leveraging Sitecore Pathways for content migration.
    • Recommend sequencing for implementing Sitecore Personalize and A/B Testing to ensure smooth transition and minimal disruption.
  • Personalization & Testing Strategy
    • Develop a plan for Sitecore Personalize implementation and outline requirements for A/B Testing.
    • Identify resource needs (developers, personalization specialists) and define testing templates and processes.
  • Content Strategy & Backlog Management
    • Create a strategy for migrating and optimizing 400+ pages of content for the upcoming website launch.
    • Prioritize backlog and establish workflows for content deployment.
  • Marketing Cloud Optimization
    • Evaluate opportunities to unlock and shift capabilities from Sitecore to SFMC.
    • Provide guidance on leveraging SFMC personalization and integration with other tools/applications.
  • Integration & Risk Mitigation
    • Assess integration points with CX tools (e.g., Medallia surveys) to prevent breakage during migration.
    • Recommend best practices for maintaining affiliate journey mapping while accommodating diverse operating models.
  • Resource Planning & Governance
    • Define roles and skill sets required for successful execution (Sitecore and SFMC expertise).
    • Establish governance for testing, personalization, and content workflows.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in digital marketing technology strategy, preferably with Sitecore (including XM Cloud/Sitecore AI) and Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Experience leading the development and maintenance of an enterprise Personalization Roadmap, including facilitating planning workshops to align cross-functional teams on experimentation and personalization strategy across platforms.
  • Strong understanding of headless architecture, personalization frameworks, and A/B testing methodologies.
  • Experience with content migration strategies and backlog prioritization.
  • Familiarity with integration planning across marketing and CX platforms.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Hands-on knowledge of Sitecore Personalize and SFMC personalization features.
  • Ability to map complex customer journeys across multiple affiliate models.
  • Strong project management and roadmap development capabilities.
