Role: Java Developer / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) - (Java & Laboratory Information Management Systems)
Contract: 1 year with potential to extend
Location: Remote (US CT/ET zones)
Rate: $47 - $60/hour W2, dependent on skills and qualifications
Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Java Developer / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) Developer with strong Java development experience and a working knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). This role is critical in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our laboratory and enterprise systems.
Responsibilities:
· Responsible for leading development of LIMS enhancements backlog:
· Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based applications and services.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
· Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices.
· Enhancements backlog may include:
· Business driven net new features/ functionality (i.e., product backlog)
· Automation tools to improve system reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure applications are designed with reliability and scalability in mind.
- Partner with Product Manager and Business Analyst teams to ensure voice of the customer is translated into the development outcomes
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field experience.
- Experience working with LIMS platforms (e.g., LabWare, STARLIMS, LabVantage).
- 5+ years of experience in a Site Reliability Engineering or DevOps role.
- Strong proficiency in Java and experience with backend development.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Proficiency with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
- Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
- Strong understanding of Linux/Unix systems and networking.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of laboratory workflows and data management in scientific environments.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
