Role: IT Resource Scheduler/Planner Duration: TBD (part time hours) Location: Minneapolis - Hybrid Rate: $71.28/hr W2
The IT Resource Scheduler/Planner is responsible for managing the allocation, availability, and scheduling of IT personnel and resources to ensure optimal project execution and service delivery. This role requires close coordination with project managers, team leads, and stakeholders to align technical resources with business priorities and timelines. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in workforce planning within a technology environment.
Key Responsibilities: - Develop and maintain a comprehensive resource scheduling system for IT personnel across multiple projects and support functions.
- Coordinate with project managers and department heads to understand resource needs and timelines.
- Monitor resource availability and proactively identify potential scheduling conflicts or capacity issues.
- Maintain a real-time view of current and upcoming resource commitments and workloads.
- Assist in forecasting resource needs based on project pipeline and operational support demands.
- Generate reports and dashboards for management, highlighting utilization, capacity, and performance metrics.
- Support timesheet management and ensure accurate logging of resource hours.
- Facilitate regular resource planning meetings and update stakeholders on scheduling status.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, IT service level agreements (SLAs), and project deadlines.
- Support onboarding/offboarding of IT staff by coordinating access, asset assignment, and workload handovers.
Required Skills and Qualifications: - Proven experience (2–5 years) in resource scheduling, workforce planning, or project coordination, preferably in an IT environment.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall).
- Strong organizational and time management skills with high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in scheduling/resource management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Smartsheet, Monday.com, ServiceNow, etc.).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with cross-functional teams.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to forecast and interpret resource data.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certification in project or resource management (e.g., PMP, CAPM, PRINCE2, PPM).
- Experience in enterprise IT environments or managed service providers (MSPs).
