Job Description

Role - GIS Developer

Location - Minneapolis - hybrid/2-3 days onsite required


The hourly pay rate range for this position is $51.68–$68.31, dependent on qualifications and experience.

Position Summary: This position is a part of the Client's Information Systems department. This position will focus on project- prioritized company-wide requests for automation of the reliable and secure transfer and maintenance of geospatial data within an enterprise Geographic Information Systems (GIS) environment.


An ideal candidate must have experience with the ESRI suite including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcSDE, and ArcGIS Online, as well as experience developing scripts to process and maintain geospatial data and SQL complex queries. Experienced analyst skills like requirements gathering, stakeholder engagement and compliance/security adherence is also a critical part of the position.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) scripts for a variety of geospatial and associated data sets. Data sets include detailed interior data, static asset attribution, real-time tracking of aircraft and vehicles, and data sets derived from financial and public safety systems.
  • Operationalize ETL scripts using industry best practices, ensuring that they are reliable, easily deployed, and utilize existing enterprise monitoring and logging technologies.
  • Manage stakeholder and requestor engagement through:
    • Understanding their data needs and provide tailored analytical solutions.
    • Communicating complex data findings in a way that is understandable.
    • Facilitating workshops/training to help make the most of analytics tools.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance policies and regulations, as well as maintain data security and privacy standards.
  • Implement data quality checks/controls to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the ESRI suite including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcSDE, and ArcGIS Online.
  • Demonstrated experience developing scripts to process and maintain geospatial data
  • Demonstrated experience with relational database management systems and using SQL to write complex queries.
  • Experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary environment (GIS staff, GIS end users, IT Developers, and Project Managers) to develop GIS products.
  • Familiarity with web service communication protocols such as REST or SOAP
  • Demonstrated experience with general software development skills such as version control, gathering requirements, and ability to document workflows and solutions.
  • Experience with cloud environments such as Azure or AWS.
  • Experience with Safe FME

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ESRI Python tools including ArcPy or ArcGIS Notebooks
  • Experience with ESRI JavaScript tools such as ArcGIS API for JavaScript
  • Knowledge of CAD to GIS or BIM to GIS workflows.
